3: The Crayon Box that Talked

The Crayon Box that Talked by Shane DeRolf Illustrated by Micahel Letzig. This is a wonderful book for the beginning of the year aw well. It is a great tool in helping to build classroom connections. With this book, I also added beeps to help students know when to turn the page. 

2: The Kissing Hand

The Kissing Hand by Audrey Penn, Illustrated by Ruth E. Harper and Nancy M. Leak. This is a great book to use on the first day of school to help ease those first days scary feelings that many students have on the first day of school. It also helps build connections because it ends with "I love you"!

1: David Gets in Trouble

David Gets in Trouble by David Shannon. I like to use this book at the beginning of the year to talk about taking responsibility for your actions. I like to teach my students that no one is perfect but we all make a mistake we just have to be willing to learn from mistakes.
